I am Ruth Stevens of Capebreah Kennels located in Mira, Cape Breton, Nova Scotia. I first became interested in the Soft Coated Wheaten Terrier when I was working as an RN in Florida between '95 and '99 and decided it was the time in my life when I would become the proud owner of my dream dog. After researching several breeds, that turned out to be "Casper", my first wheaten, and I have not regretted one moment. He has been the joy of my life.

    Upon retiring in '99, I returned to my beloved Cape Breton, as so many of us do, and became involved in showing and eventually breeding. My kennel has evolved to include "Maggie", Casper's daughter; Maggie's pups, "Bailey" and "Topaz", sired by a beautiful boy from Michigan; and "Diva", a lovely girl from Owen Sound, Ontario.

    I am and will remain a small but conscientious, serious breeder with emphasis on health, temperament, and finding loving homes for my puppies. All my animals live in my home and the puppies are hand-raised and socialized prior to leaving the premises for their new homes. I will be available to the new owners throughout the dog's lifetime for any concerns they may have and I provide a good written health guarantee with each pup.

    My affiliations include membership with the CKC, The Soft Coated Wheaten Terrier Association of Canada (National and the Atlantic Branch), The Open Registry, and the Cape Breton Kennel Club. All parents of my pups come from healthy backgrounds and Canadian and/or American Champion lines.

    The SCWT is a beautiful, exuberant, loving, long legged terrier of medium size with a blond (wheaten) colored non-shedding soft coat, as the name implies. They are loyal, intelligent and aim to please. They are good with children and with other animals. Wheatens are happy with moderate exercise but also do great as part of an active family's lifestyle. They love being with you as a complete member of your family. I find mine to be enjoyable travelling companions.

A wheaten would make a wonderful addition to any loving, responsible family ready to open their hearts to him.
